Christmas tree ornament

Nothing beats a handmade Christmas so why not spruce up your home with these gorgeous Christmas tree decorations! Make them individually or make a set and join for a Garland!

This project is a great stash buster and can be made using any weight yarn, just use the hook size recommend on the yarn!

I’ve used Paintbox Aran in Lime Green and Dark Brown but I’ve also made these in cotton 4ply and chunky and they look great!

Materials

  • 5mm crochet hook
  • Approx 4g Aran weight yarn – Green
  • Scraps of brown for the trunk
  • Scissors

Adding the trunk!

Row 1 – Locate the 3 centre stitches on the bottom of your tree. Join the yarn to the first of the stitches. Ch1, sc in the same space. Sc in the next two stitches. Ch1, turn (3)

Rows 2 – Sc in each stitch, ch1, turn (3)

Row 3 – Sc in each stitch. Fasten off

Blocking!

I highly recommend blocking your trees to give them shape and structure! I use spray starch from the supermarket – Dr Beckmann’s £1 from Morrison’s!

Spray your tree throughly and pin out. Leave to dry for around 24 hours!
