Materials

  • 6mm hook
  • Aran weight yarn (100g)
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Instructions

Ch 110

Row 1 – Hdc in the third chain from the hook. Hdc in each stitch across. Join to the first Hdc with a slip stitch. Ch1, turn.

Row 2 – mini puff stitch in the first stitch, ch1, skip 1 stitch, *mini puff in the next stitch, ch1, skip 1 stitch*. Repeat from * to *. Slip stitch to first mini puff, ch1, turn.

Mini puff – insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, insert your hook into the same stitch, yarn over, pull through (4 loops on hook). Yarn over, pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Row 3 – make 1 mini puff in the first ch1 space, ch1, *make 1 mini puff the the next ch1 space, ch1.* Repeat from * to *. Join to first mini puff with a slip stitch, ch1, turn.

Row 4 – sc in the mini puff, sc in the ch1 space. Repeat around. Slip stitch into the first sc. Ch1, turn.

Row 5 – dc in the first stitch, sc in the next stitch, *dc in next stitch, sc in next stitch* Repeat around. Join with slip stitch to first dc. Ch1, turn.

Row 6 – dc in the first sc from the previous row, sc in the next dc from the previous row. *sc in the next dc, dc in the next sc*. Repeat around. Join with slip stitch to first dc. Ch1, turn.

Row 7 – repeat row 6

Row 8 – 10 repeat rows 2 – 4 (your puff stitches will be into a sc and you will skip the dc)

Row 11 – 13 – repeat rows 5 – 7

Rows 14 – 16 – repeat rows 2 – 4

Rows 17 – 19 – repeat rows 5 – 7

Rows 20 – 21 – repeat rows 2 – 3

Row 22 – Hdc in each ch space, skipping the puff stitches. This will decrease your stitches to pull the edge of the cowl in. Slip stitch to first hdc. Fasten off.

You have now completed your cowl!
