Materials

Notes on the pattern

  • The hat is worked in spiral rounds. It is best to use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch.
  • Your gauge isn’t too important as long as your hat measures the correct size.
  • You can also use a different weight yarn as long as you increase until you reach the correct measurements as shown below.
  • Instructions between * and * means that you repeat those instructions.
  • 2hdc means to make 2 half double crochets into one stitch (increase)
  • Stitch count is in brackets at the end of each round.
  • The instructions are for adult medium.
  • Sizing adjustments – you can make this hat any size you wish. Measure your hat size as you go until you reach your desired head size.
  • For adult medium – work your increase rounds until 7.5-8″
  • For 6-10 years – work your increase rounds until 6.5″
  • For 3-5 years – work your increase rounds until 6″
  • For 1-3 years – work your increase rounds until 5.5-6″
