All you need to get started are a crochet hook, yarn in your choice of colour, and a pair of scissors. You can use any type of yarn, but cotton yarn is recommended for its durability and absorbency. I use Paintbox Cotton Aran. It is a durable 100% yarn that comes in a huge range of colours.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Start by making a slip knot and chaining 4. Join to the first chain with a slip stitch to form a ring.
2. Chain 2 (this counts as your first double crochet) and then work 11 double crochets into the ring. Join with a slip stitch to the first double crochet.
3. Chain 2 and work 2 double crochets in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to the first double crochet.
4. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends with your crochet hook.

- 4mm crochet hook
- 5g Aran weight cotton yarn. I use Paintbox Cotton Aran.

- Darning needle
Abbreviations (US terms)
- Dc = double crochet
- Ch = chain
Instructions
Make a magic circle
Round 1 – Ch2, make 11dc into the magic ring. Join with a slip stitch to the first dc. ch1.
Round 2 – in the same space as the ch1, make 2dc. Make 2dc in each stitch around. (24). Ch1.
Round 3 – in the same space as the ch1, make 3dc. *Ch1, skip the next stitch, make 3dc in the next stitch.* repeat around. Ch1 and join to first dc with a slip stitch. Ch1.
Round 4 – in the same space as the ch1, make 1dc. Dc in each of the next 2 stitches, dc in the ch space. *Dc in each of the next 3 stitches, dc in the chain space*. Repeat around. Join with slip stitch to first dc. Finish off with an invisible join.
I usually make these in a set of four and tie them up in a piece of ribbon as a lovely gift for loved ones! Enjoy!
